The world is facing an acute and growing shortage of teachers. According to UNESCO, there are currently 60 million teachers but 50% more are needed to meet demand. The current model of teacher training, school building, and international monitoring will not scale quickly enough to meet the burgeoning demand of students globally. To meet demand, classroom education must be supplemented with online, e-learning services.
In an online environment, reading comprehension and math skills can be assessed with multiple-choice. However, writing cannot be assessed with multiple choice. To assess writing, automated essay scoring services are required.
